A woman has been shot and killed by her two-year-old son in a tragic accident.
The incident occurred at a Wal-Mart store in Hayden, Idaho on Tuesday morning.
Stu Miller, Kootenai County sheriff's spokesman, told reporters that the shooting happened at 10:20am as the woman was shopping with several children in the discount retailer's Hayden branch.
Miller said the unnamed woman's toddler son grabbed a handgun concealed in the woman's handbag and shot her. The mother died at the scene.
The spokesman added that the woman did have a permit for a concealed weapon.
The store has been evacuated and closed down. It is believed that the woman was visiting and is not from the town, which has only 9,000 residents. Her family are said to be at the scene and investigations are ongoing.
