The family of singer Britney Spears has reportedly reached out to the popstar following her arrest on Wednesday night.
Britney was arrested for driving under the influence, with sources claiming she was driving "erratically" before her arrest.
Police confirmed Spears was "driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol."
TMZ reports that Spears was handcuffed by the California Highway Patrol at around 9.30 pm (local time) on Wednesday night.
The singer's representative said the incident was "completely inexcusable," but hopes the Womanizer singer will learn from this incident.
They issued a statement after the singer was released from jail.
"This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable.
"Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully, this can be the first step in long-overdue change that needs to occur in Britney's life.
"Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.
"Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well-being."
It is understood that Britney's mother, Lynne Spears, had a positive conversation with her daughter.
News of Britney's arrest comes after the singer sold the rights to her back catalogue to Primary Wave.
