After it bucketing down last night, the weather is looking better today

Olivia Hayes

Anybody out last night?

Did you get absolutely lashed on? If you were out then God love you, you must have been soaked. On the other hand, if you stayed inside you made the right choice because it was as grim as it could have been.

However, according to Met Éireann even though there will be a few scattered showers today, the weather is looking up later on this evening as sunny spells will break through and temperatures will rise.

The weather forecaster said: “Many places cloudy to begin today, Sunday, with patchy rain and drizzle. Rather blustery for a time near east and south coasts this morning.

“Skies will gradually brighten, and the afternoon will bring increasing sunny spells and a scattering of showers. Top temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees with brisk northwesterly winds gradually moderating.”

It will be “largely dry tonight with clear spells at first, and just isolated coastal showers. Cloud amounts will increase overnight, however, and rain will develop in southwest Munster towards dawn.

However, it will become colder as the night goes on: “Lows of 4 to 8 degrees in light variable breezes, with mist and fog patches forming.”
