This is why celebrities will be wearing orange pins at the 2018 Oscars

Many celebrities have taken the chance to support the Time's Up movement throughout the 2018 awards season.

At both the BAFTAs and the Golden Globes, many celebrities donned all-black outfits to express their solidarity. And at the Grammys and the BRIT Awards, some of the stars carried white roses or white rose pins. At the Oscars on Sunday night/early Monday morning, a number of Hollywood's A-listers will reportedly walk the red carpet wearing orange anti-gun violence pins. According to PEOPLE, Oscar attendees will try to raise awareness about gun safety by sporting the Wear Orange to Prevent Gun Violence pins from Everytown for Gun Safety.  The move comes just two weeks after 17 people were killed by a former student at Marjory Stonemason Douglas High School on February 14. The pins are available via the Everytown website and cost €12 for a pack of three. Following the recent shooting in Florida, a number of celebrities - including Oprah Winfrey, Amal Clooney and George Clooney - have donated $500,000 to March for Our Lives, a protest against gun violence organised by the survivors. PEOPLE also report that some celebrities will be continuing to raise awareness of Time's Up, wearing that black-and white slogan pin as well. Stylist Elizabeth Stewart said that she was planning to add Time's Up pins to her Oscar attendees' outfits. She added:

“I am doing everything I can to support the Time’s Up movement.”

The 2018 Academy Awards will take place on Sunday, March 4 at 5.30pm in Los Angeles (1.30am GMT).
