Holidays are-.. Oh wait.

The Coca Cola truck tour for Ireland has been cancelled for the first time due to Covid.

The tour, which takes the iconic truck to a selection of spots across the country, will not be happening this year amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Coca Cola confirmed the news on Twitter, stating that the truck will not be making its nationwide journey spreading festive cheer in 2020.

“Due to current restrictions around the country, our Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour won’t go ahead this year,” they said. We know it’s disappointing, but we’ll continue to share special Christmas moments throughout the festive season.

“We look forward to seeing you next year.”

The UK Coca Cola truck tour has also been cancelled.

The famous truck, known best for its appearance in the long-running Coca Cola ads, will be staying in its icy garage this year to ensure that it doesn’t encourage mass gatherings in the middle of the pandemic.

Ireland is currently operating under Level 5 restrictions, which has closed all non-essential retail and banned household visits unless as part of a social bubble.

The government remains hopeful that cases will have reduced enough by early December to move to Level 2 restrictions for the Christmas period.
