The community of Meelin, Co. Cork is in shock today after it emerged that the car crash that claimed the life of Oisín Twomey and left his parents fighting for their lives was not accidental.
Police in Devon said that they were alerted to the wellbeing of a Polish man on Friday after the discovery of a suicide note.
According to the Irish Independent, police detected the driver’s Vauxhall Vectra driving the wrong way on the carriageway moments before the accident.
After the crash the man was arrested but later died.
Con and Elber Twomey are in a critical condition in Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.
Surgeons tried to save the life of the couple’s unborn child but were unsuccessful.
The mother of Mr Twomey said that her sixteen month old grandchild Oisín was an adorable little boy and the family needs prayers at this time.
The road was cordoned off for more than ten hours following the collision on Friday.
