Couple get engaged on live TV while waiting to see Harry and Meghan

What a way to celebrate.

A royal family fan got an unexpected Christmas gift when her boyfriend proposed on live TV while they were queuing at the Queen's Sandringham Estate. The couple, both 20 years old, were among the crowds waiting to catch a glimpse of Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and the rest of the royal family. American royal fans Ashley Millican and Michael Metz were in the queue near St Mary Magdalene Church at Sandringham on Christmas morning. But just before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle arrived, Michael decided to get down on one knee - on live TV. When asked by Sky News royal correspondent Rhiannon Mills why it was so important for them to come see the Royals on Christmas morning, Michael turned to Ashley. Getting down on one knee, he asked:

“I want to spend the rest of my Christmases with you Ashley, so I don’t know if you want to marry me?”

Ashley, fighting back tears, put her hand to her mouth and exclaimed:

"Yes. Oh my God."

  Michael told Sky News he gotten the blessing of Ashley’s parents in September - but had been planning the move since August. He had even enlisted the help of his aunt Kayla, who lives in Peterborough, to help with the surprise. https://twitter.com/SkyNews/status/945255666637139968 He explained:

"I wanted to do it on Christmas day, just because of the Christmas spirit. "It's like a Christmas present, and on the Sandringham estate I thought it would be really cool, especially with Meghan Markle being engaged to the Prince. "I think the Royal family are really cool."
