Taoiseach Enda Kenny has confirmed the date for the same-sex marriage referendum.
According to RTÉ, Mr. Kenny stated that the referendum is expected to be held on Friday, May 22nd.
The Taoiseach was speaking to Prime Time and added that the referendum is essentially about tolerance, respect and sensitivity.
He continued by expressing his hope that support for the referendum would continue, and added that a large number of the members of the Oireachtas are in favour of it.
