Corkwoman Dee Forbes, current head of the Discovery Channel in Europe is expected to be selected as the new Director General of RTÉ.
The Irish Times report that the RTÉ board are meeting today to approve Forbes for the role.
Noel Curran is the current director, and will be stepping down at the end of April.
Forbes currently “manages all commercial and channel activities for Discovery Networks Northern Europe’s business covering 27 TV brands in 18 markets and territories” at the Discovery Channel.
Forbes is from Drimoleague in Co. Cork, and is a graduate of History and Politics at UCD.
She will become the first woman Director General in the station's history.
