Dine-In deals: Where you get the best meal deal this Valentine’s Day

Where will YOU be picking up yours?

Trine Jensen-Burke

The most romantic (and crowded and over over-priced) night of the year is almost upon us.

But far from heading out and wasting money on a less than stellar restaurant dining experience, a survey has revealed that this year, as many as 61 percent of Irish people are staying put at home this February 14th.

And in fairness, why wouldn’t we, with the many amazing meal deals going this year – ensuring that you can enjoy gourmet quality food (and no doubt a much nicer atmosphere) right home in your own kitchen.

As for what you get where, here is the only round-up dine-in guide you need:

1. Marks & Spencer

The creator of the original dine-in deal does not disappoint and bring out all the stops for Valentine’s Day.

Choose your perfect meal from a selection of delicious starters, mains, sides, desserts and a bottle of wine or fizz, plus a box of chocolate hearts.

The selection of dishes is great too, with starter options such as Coquilles St Jacques and Gastropub Runny Scotch Eggs, and some of the mains including Rump Steak with Peppercorn and Gastropub Duck A L’orange.

Cost: €25

2. Tesco

At Tesco this year, you are spoilt for choice with their Valentine’s Dine-In offering.

For just €10, you get to select one Tesco Finest main, two Tesco Finest sides and a Tesco Finest dessert – and they have a vast selection of meals to choose from, so everyone is sure to find something to tickle their fancy this February 14th.

3. SuperValu

Romance is in the air at SuperValu, where their team of experts have done all the hard work for you this Valentine’s Day. Just pop in and pick up one of their amazing meal deals (the beef brisket is to DIE for) of one main, two sides and a bottle of wine for just €15.

Oh – and even better? For every meal deal sold, €1 will be donated to the Simon Community.

That’s what we call fine dining.

4. Lidl

Lidl too have upped the ante for this year’s Valentine’s dine-in menu, offering one main (we like the sound of the duck breast fillets marinated with garlic and pepper), one side (buttery roast potatos, anyone?), one deesert, a bottle of Prosecco and a box of chocolates for just €15.

5. Avoca

Even Avoca has joined in on the dine-in action, with a €25,95 menu so delicious sounding, we don’t know why anyone would bother heading out this Valentine’s night. Just take a look for yourself:

6. Aldi

Oh, Aldi, you had us at €10 and rosé…

This year, for just €10, you can get a ‘ready-to-cook’ Irish marinated chicken, a bottle of Sandara Frizzante Rosé, two specially selected luxury mousse desserts and a Valentine’s Day card at Aldi – how FAB is that?!
