The Dublin Rape Crisis Centre (DRCC) is looking for volunteers to train to be telephone counsellors.

The group is seeking people to help staff the centre’s 24-hour national helpline, as well as provide accompaniment services to those attending Garda stations, court, or the Rotunda Hospital’s Sexual Assault Treatment Unit (SATU).

Staff will be fully trained by the group to provide much needed support for survivors of sexual abuse.

The DRCC’s website reads:

“The Dublin Rape Crisis Centre could not maintain the level of services we provide without our volunteers.

“In 2016, our 99 outstanding volunteers accompanied over 260 survivors of sexual violence to SATU, to Garda Stations and to court.”

Applications for these voluntary roles are open until Friday, September 28 2018. You must be 25 or older and live in Dublin to apply.

Training will begin on Friday, October 12. You can access an application form here.

If you are in need of support from the DRCC, you can call their 24-hour national helpline on 1800 77 8888.
