Add us as a preferred source on Google »Easter is just around the corner, and we cannot wait to solely eat mini eggs for the foreseeable future.
We will be eating chocolate for breakfast, lunch, and dinner all weekend long, but there's one Easter treat that your kids should stay away from.
A former paramedic is warning parents about the dangers of mini eggs.
Young children, especially toddlers, should avoid eating the little treats because they're a choking hazard.
Speaking about the risk, Nikki from Tiny Hearts Education said to avoid solid mini eggs this Easter.
She said, "This year when you are doing Easter shopping for your little one, you are going to see so many of these little mini eggs and they're delicious but we're not going to grab them."
Nikki said to opt for hollow chocolate eggs that are easy to crumble.
Nikki told parents that these eggs are safe once a child is over the age of 3. They should also have all their teeth and a mature chew before they should try mini eggs.
She also said that it is a personal choice for parents, but age 3 is a safe bet.
The mum added, "These are the perfect size to block an airway. Instead, buy hollow eggs or alternatives such as books, slippers, toy bunnies, or pajamas."
