Former Emmerdale actress Roxanne Pallett lost consciousness after crashing into a wall during a stock car race yesterday.

The Minster FM radio presenter was racing her co-host Ben Fry at Hunmanby Raceway in York when she crashed.

According to The Sun, the thirty-six year old blacked out and had to be cut out of the wreckage. It has been reported that it took two hours to get Roxanne out of the car.

The soap star was airlifted to hospital for treatment. She suffered from two sprained wrists and severe bruising.

A source told the publication:

“She tried to overtake Ben on a bend and was travelling too fast and smashed into the concrete wall on the track.”

“She lost consciousness for about 30 seconds on impact. Fortunately she was wearing a helmet and race gear.”

In a statement, Minster FM said:

“Unfortunately Roxy was involved in an accident yesterday [Tuesday]. Minster FM colleagues and listeners wish her a speedy recovery and can’t wait to have her back in the studio and waking up North Yorkshire with Ben.”

Roxanne starred in Emmerdale as Jo Stiles from 2005 to 2008. In February she said that she quit acting to become a radio presenter after receiving cruel comments about her looks.
