"Severe weather has caused additional faults. 34K customers now without power. Crews are working to repair damage. Stay clear of fallen or low hanging wires. Call 1850372999 to log faults".
The areas most impacted include Enniscorthy, Arklow, Portlaoise, Waterford, Dublin, Cork, Bandon, Fermoy, Tullamore, Duleek and Julianstown. The latest update says that some customers will not have their electricity restored until tomorrow on account of the severe weather in the south-east of the country. A statement from the ESB, which you can access in full here, reads:Severe weather has caused additional faults. 34K customers now without power. Crews are working to repair damage. "We understand how difficult it is to not have electricity in these conditions and so our staff are focused on trying to restore supply to as many people as possible as quickly as possible. "There are deep snow drifts in various parts of the country and so it is taking our crews a very long time to travel to each fault. "It is also more difficult than normal to then carry out a repair "We will continue to work with the emergency services and Local Authorities to ensure the safety of the pubic and to minimise disruption and are working with other state agencies to help us gain access.
