A Garda investigation has been launched this evening following an alleged altercation between Republic of Ireland assistant manager Roy Keane and a football fan outside a hotel in Portmarnock.
The national squad are staying at the hotel ahead of their clash with Scotland on Friday night and it had been claimed that the incident took place after the fan approached Keane asking him for an autograph.
According to the Mirror Online, the manager refused and a “heated exchange” followed, with the fan later being brought to hospital by ambulance.
However, other sources are reporting that the scuffle was triggered after a projectile was thrown from the group at a well-known member of the Irish set up.
