Gardaí are investigating the death of a man and a woman in Co Clare last night.
The 44-year-old man and 27-year-old woman were confirmed dead at the scene in Kildysart. According to reports, at approximately 7.30pm on Wednesday evening, gardaí and firefighters were on the street dealing with an unrelated incident when they discovered a woman on the opposite side of the road.
The woman had reportedly sustained serious injuries and collapsed on the footpath. Despite the efforts of the gardaí, she was later pronounced dead.
Gardaí then discovered the body of a man in a nearby building. He had also sustained serious injuries and was later pronounced dead. Two young children were reported to be present at the scene, but both children are not believed to have sustained any injuries.
According to reports, it is understood that gardaí are treating the deaths as a domestic incident. It has also been reported that they are not looking for a third party in relation to the deaths.
It is believed that the man and woman are South African nationals.
