In an update on Wednesday (29 June), An Garda Síochána have confirmed that the investigation into the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier remains active and ongoing.
The French television producer was murdered at her holiday home in Toormore in rural Cork in December 1996.
British journalist Ian Bailey was convicted of the murder in French court, and sentenced to 25 years in prison.
However, the High Court ruled that Bailey could not be extradited from Ireland.
The case has been the subject of several documentaries, most notably Sky Crime's Murder At The Cottage and Netflix's Sophie Toscan du Plantier: A Murder in West Cork.
The Garda Serious Crime Review Team will conduct a full review of the case, following a review by the Assistant Commissioner of the Organised and Serious Crime division.

An Garda Síochána continues to appeal to anyone who may have any information on this crime to contact the Garda investigation team at Bantry Garda Station 027 20860 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
