Details of one of "the highest speeds ever" come across by the Naas Traffic Corps have emerged on the Garda Síochána Facebook page.
Spotted on JOE.ie, the driver was doing a speed of 208 KMPH in a 120 km zone during wet conditions with plenty of traffic.
The incident occurred on the M7 motorway between Monasterevin & Kildare in January and as a Fixed Charge Penalty Notice was not sufficient for this offence, the driver in question was brought to court.
The outcome of this was that the 21-year-old motorist will serve three months in prison in addition to paying a fine of €1000.
He has also been disqualified from driving for four years and will be required to retake his driving test after this period.
A reminder to all to be careful on our roads.
