Get the umbrellas ready for the Bank Holiday.

It looks like a washout bank holiday weekend awaits us.

According to Met Éireann, Ireland is set to experience some major downpours over the next few days. The unusually mild weather will be a thing of the past as miserable conditions set in.

Heavy showers, mild temperatures, and the risk of localised flooding have been forecasted. We can forget about the hope of one final sunny bank holiday weekend before winter really kicks in.

Temperatures will be between 12 and 15 degrees this weekend.

Irish weather

Scattered showers are forecasted for Friday, October 22nd. The weather will take a turn on Saturday with heavy rain in the west of the country. The rest of the country will experience showers and gusty southerly winds.

Heavier rainfall is expected later in the evenings. Sunday will be slightly better with some sunny spells. The north and west will experience heavy showers.

Temperatures will drop to between 5 and 9 degrees on Sunday night.

Things will improve on Monday with some sunny showers forecast, but the rain will make an unwelcome return nationwide in the night.

It looks like we’ll be hibernating for the Bank Holiday weekend.
