Make sure your name is on the register.

There’s just two days to go until the deadline to register to vote in next year’s General Election closes, after Taoiseach Enda Kenny confirmed that the election will be next spring.

The Department of the Environment is encouraging people to make sure that their name is on the electoral register and if not, to get online and sign up through the online form.

If you’re not sure if you are registered, you can log on to www.checktheregister.ie and check if your name is there, and if not, you can fill in the form online.

You can also pop into your local post office or library to get the form and simply return it to your local council before Wednesday.

Those who turn 18 before February 15th next year are also eligible to register.
