Although the victim only suffered minor injuries, police say that the accident could have been fatal.
“The CCTV is crystal clear,” said PC Adrian Spurrel. “The driver collided with a young boy then callously drove off, leaving him slumped on the road.
“Remarkably, he only missed one day of school after suffering minor injuries, but clearly the injuries could have been far worse or even fatal.”
The incident occurred just after 7.15pm on September 2nd in Ashton-Under-Lyne, Greater Manchester.
“To leave a young boy shocked and injured in the road when you have no idea how seriously injured he may or may not be shows a worrying level of apathy and regard for his welfare and I need the public’s help to identify the driver,” PC Spurrel added.
