It's caused controversy.

Locals in South Dublin are said to be annoyed amid reports that the Church of Scientology plans to create a 1,200 seater European Headquarters in the area.

The Church has reportedly bought a building which belonged to the former Victory Christian Fellowship. They owned a large church on the Firhouse Road in Tymon South, Dublin 24 which was then given over to NAMA.

Now, it appears it belongs to the Church of Scientology.

According to The Independent, local Councillor Brian Lawlor said the community is disappointed in the sale because there had been previous plans to create a centre at this location for the Department of Education.

The Church of Scientology, which was created by L. Ron Hubbard, has attracted a lot of negative press after numerous celebrities and ex-members have spoken about about it.

It has also been at the centre of some hugely popular documentaries, including one by Louis Theroux.
