It looks like Ireland is set for frost, ice and maybe even SNOW this week, so wrap up warm

Dreaming of a white weekend?

Things are getting chilly in Ireland lads, and that brisk cold is here to stay.

We all know how temperamental Irish weather can be, which is why we we’re not surprised by the news that snow could be on the way.

Met Éireann has warned that a “persistent spell of heavy rain will gradually move up from the south west, reaching all but northern areas by evening”.

Forecasters said there is a “slight risk” of sleet or wet snow for a time in the midlands and west.

Sure, it isn’t exactly fluffy white wonder, but we’ll take it!

Last night, Met Éireann said “Cold tonight, with mostly clear skies. But a few showers will affect northern coasts. Lowest temperatures plus 1 to -2C, with a widespread hard frost and some icy stretches on roads. Some patches of mist and fog will form also.”

So whether or not the snow makes an appearance, it will be very cold and wet!

Stay warm.
