Over 250 schools across the country will remain closed today due to the Status Orange weather warning over Storm Chandra.
The storm hit Chandra last night and is expected to last throughout the day, leading to several schools closing amid safety concerns.
An amber wind warning is in place for County Antrim, Down and Derry until 11 pm tonight.
The national forecaster issued a Status Yellow wind warning for every single county, which will remain in place until 11 pm.
Met Éireann warned: "Winds associated with Storm Chandra will be very strong and gusty, particularly on coasts and in exposed areas."
A Status Yellow rain warning is in place for Carlow, Kilkenny, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow and Waterford until 11 pm.
Additionally, a yellow wind and rain alert is in place for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry until just before midnight.
The Met Office warned: “Storm Chandra will bring very strong winds, leading to the potential for damage and disruption on Tuesday.”
Northern Ireland Direct Government Services confirmed this morning that over 250 schools will remain closed today due to the “adverse weather."
The full list of confirmed school closures contains a mix of both primary and secondary schools, with a lot of them in Antrim, Down and Derry.
