Katy Perry is being investigated by police after Ruby Rose accused her of sexual assault.
Rose, an actress best known for the show 'Orange is the New Black', made the allegation in a series of posts on Threads on Sunday, 12 April.
Rose, 40, claimed that the pop star assaulted her at an Australian nightclub in 2010 when she was in her 20s.
The allegation was first brought up by Rose on a Complex Music Threads post, mentioning the singer.
A spokesperson for Katy Perry has denied the allegations in a statement given to Variety.
The spokesperson said: “The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies.
"Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”
In a statement to the Daily Mail, Victoria Police confirmed they were investigating the incident.
“Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) detectives are investigating a historical sexual assault that occurred in Melbourne in 2010," a spokesperson said.
“Police have been told the incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourne’s CBD.
“As the investigation remains ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”
Rose has said she will give no further comment on the alleged incident due to the police investigation.
