“My whole world has fallen apart.”

As one of the victims of Storm Ali has been laid to rest, his fiancée has said that she hopes to “make him proud” throughout her life.

Electrician Matt Campbell, 24, died when he was struck by a falling tree during the extreme weather last week.

He was working at a water pumping station near Newry, Co Down when the tragedy occurred.

He was due to marry his partner Robyn Newberry in 2019.

The couple had been together for six years and were living together in the town of Comber in Down.

Taking to social media this week, Robyn paid tribute to her “best friend and biggest cheerleader”.

“My one and only love has been taken from me and no words can describe how much it hurts…

“We had six amazing years and hit some bumps in road but we faced these head on together and came out the other side stronger and wiser.

“Matt was my comforter, best friend and my own little cheerleader.

“He always knew just what to say and when to say it.”

Robyn revealed that Matt had been a writer and that she’d come across some of his work in the past few days.

“He is the most talented man I know and even now continues to surprise me. I can’t wait to find more of his stories and poems around our home.

“My Matt had the biggest heart and would drop everything in a heartbeat to help others.

“I will forever miss his massive smile when I wake in the morning and when I come home after a day’s work.

She also reflected on the plans that they had made for the future.

“The past few months we had been busy planning our wedding.

We were content with our lives and the journey we were on and just could not wait to be Mr and Mrs Campbell.

“Instead Matt has taken my wedding ring on a journey to heaven while I keep his safe close to my heart. I hope as I continue through my life I can continue to make him proud.”
