A major affordable clothing chain that is set to rival Penneys is due to open in Dublin in the coming months.
According to the Business Post, New Yorker, a popular German outlet, is coming to a location in the North of Dublin City Centre.
The brand is known for stocking a range of denim, streetwear and athleisurewear and their prices look to be even more budget-friendly than Irish fan-favourite, Penneys.
‘Every moment is unique, just like every look,’ the New Yorker brand’s website states. ‘We want to create experiences and encourage our customers to be themselves. To be real, to experiment. We make fashion for real moments.’
NewYorker was founded in 1971 and boasts over 1,300 stores across 47 countries. They have nearly 300 stories in Germany alone and they employ over 23,000 people worldwide.
The brand is looking to take an empty unit in Dublin’s Jervis Shopping Centre and has applied for planning permission for signage facing onto Mary Street.
Centre director at Jervis Shopping Centre, Derek McDonnell, confirmed that planning permission had been granted, which means the budget store should commence work soon.
The exact opening date will be announced in the coming months and according to prices on the website, this brand is sure to give Penneys a serious run for their money.
