A man has died following a single car collision in County Mayo this morning.
The tragic incident occurred on the N17 near Claremorris shortly after 7.30am when the male pedestrian was struck by a car.
He suffered fatal injuries in the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the car was uninjured.
The road was closed to facilitate a forensic investigation and anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Claremorris Garda Station on 094-9372080, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
