Man shot by gardaí in connection with Jastine Valdez’s disappearance has been named

The man was shot by gardaí yesterday evening.

A man in his 40s was shot and killed by gardaí on Sunday evening in the Cherrywood Business Park in South Dublin.

The man was killed by gardaí investigating the disappearance of missing student Jastine Valdez when their search led them to the driver of black Nissan.

The man who was killed has now been named as Mark Hennessy, a married father-of-two from Woodbrook Estate, Boghall Road in Bray, according to RTÉ.

Today, gardaí have renewed their appeal for information regarding the whereabouts of the 24-year-old student who went missing on Saturday evening.

Detectives are looking for information about the movements of the car the man was driving before he was shot and killed by a Garda in Cherrywood, South Dublin.

Just moments ago, gardaí confirmed that they have found a purse belonging to Ms Valdez during their search in Rathmichael.

Eyewitness say they saw Jastine being bundled into a Nissan Qashqai on the R760 Kilcrony road near her home in Enniskerry at a 6.45pm on Saturday evening.

The car was spotted by a member of the public at the business park in Cherrywood on Sunday evening; when Gardaí approached the man they discovered he was armed with a knife, and the 40-year-old was subsequently shot and killed.

While the car was subsequently searched, Jastine Valdez was not found.

Gardaí are now checking CCTV, as well as the man’s mobile phone, in order to ascertain the movements of the vehicle prior to 8pm on Sunday night.

Jastine is described as being 1.52m (5ft) tall, of slight build with long black hair and brown eyes.
