Maria Sharapova has announced that she failed a drug test at the Australian Open.
BBC reports that the 28-year-old tested positive for meldonium, which she takes for health issues.
Speaking at the conference, Maria said that she had been taking the substance for the past ten years and was not aware that the substance became prohibited on the 1st January.
Maria, who is from Russia, is a five-time Grand slam champion.
Currently suffering from an arm injury, she has played just four tournaments since Wimbledon in July 2015.
