Martin King to take time off work after wife’s brain tumour diagnosis

He has also shared a recent health scare he had himself.

Martin King has revealed he plans to take time off work following his wife's brain tumour diagnosis. Last week, Jenny McCarthy revealed that her brain tumour had returned after previously having had a benign tumour removed back in 2011. She confirmed she had recently been for a scan and received the diagnosis - and will now undergo surgery in early February. Martin wants to be by her side to care for her throughout her surgery and recovery. Speaking to The Irish Mirror, he said: "My wife is telling me not to [take time off] and we are in the position where our children are a little bit older so they are a bit more responsible. “So Jenny put things in place so I don’t need to take time off, but I will take some time off, especially when she first comes out of hospital so I’ll be there. “More to babysit her to make sure she isn’t doing stuff and that she is minding herself and relaxing.” Martin also revealed that the pair are extremely thankful for the thousands of messages of support from the Irish public. “It was so lovely. It really rekindles your faith in human kindness when you receive messages like that. “We’re in a good place. Jenny is in a good place. We’re just looking forward to the other side of it.” At the Virgin Media Spring 2022 launch on Wednesday, the TV presenter opened up about a recent health scare he had himself. "If you shake me in the evening times you’ll get a rattle because there are a few tablets in me at that stage! "I had a bit of a scare, and didn’t know what was going on. I went and did a stress test and that revealed there were some problems with the plumbing around my heart, and went and got it checked and discovered there were some blockages. There was a bit of sandblasting that went on, but it’s good now. “And I am in the care of a brilliant cardiologist and make sure I’m doing what I need to be doing and each year go in and get an angiogram just to see if everything is how it should be.” Maintaining a positive outlook about what the future has in store for himself and Jenny, he added: "We have got a lot of good things to look forward to in 2022. The grandchild is one, there may even be more so we will wait and see."
