Maura Higgins revealed it 'wasn't even a plan to be celibate' as she explains why she decided to stop dating for a while.
The Irish star, who recently appeared on The Traitors US, has had her share of high-profile romances and has never shied away from calling out her “terrible exes.”
Speaking to Cosmopolitan, Maura admitted she took a break from men but now feels open to a relationship again.
The 35-year-old, from Ballymahon, said: "I’m not saying I’m not open [to a relationship], but I’m not checking my DMs to see who’s in there."
Reflecting on what single life has taught her, Maura said: "I don’t want to bring just anyone into my energy. It wasn’t even a plan to be celibate. I didn’t put a timeline on it.
"I just had terrible exes and needed a break. I wanted to focus on me, my career, and my energy. Now that it’s been over a year, I don’t even think of men.
"I’m not saying I’m not open [to a relationship], but I’m not checking my DMs to see who’s in there. I’m not searching for it."
Earlier this year, the former Love Islander discussed her love life, explaining: "I’ve already got severe trust issues. I’ve been cheated on by the majority of my exes – that’s the reason I’ve been celibate for a whole year."
Just last year, Maura publicly took aim at her ex-boyfriend Pete Wicks and suggested he cheated on her after she discovered texts to other women on his phone, claims he later went on to deny, per Goss.ie.
Maura even went as far as to say she has turned into an 'investigator' after years of dating men who 'did her dirty'.
In an interview with Glamour Magazine, Maura said: "I’d say my biggest red flag in a relationship is I’ve got serious trust issues. If I’m dating you and it’s only a week in, I’ve already gone through your phone.
"I’ve turned into a bit of an investigator because men have done me dirty. So like, I mean, I’d probably say it’s a beige flag, but we call it red.
"We call it red because it’s not okay to go through someone’s phone, but I’m going to do it again."
