Met Éireann has issued a weather warning for Connaught and Donegal.
The national forecaster has said that both regions will be hit by heavy rain today, with a risk of localised flooding.
The Status Orange warning will run until 3pm, with the rain then moving southeastwards this afternoon and evening with clear spells and showers following from the northwest.
Highest temperatures of eight to 12 degrees are expected with fresh to strong, gusty southwest winds.
