Met Éireann say we’re in for quite a miserable day today

Olivia Hayes

Heavy and persistent rain. Great.

Met Éireann says that the weather is going to be a bit dull and grey this morning, with rain due to cover the country as they day goes on.

Today and tonight will be rather windy too with strong gusts developing around coastal towns.

The weather forecaster said: “Mostly cloudy and misty in places to begin today, with outbreaks of rain. However, sunny intervals will also occur, and it will become mainly dry across the western half of the country this afternoon. The rain will be heaviest and most persistent in east Leinster.

“Feeling cool in northerly winds, increasing fresh and gusty as the day goes on, with strong winds developing near exposed coasts. Top temperatures of 8 to 11 degrees.”

Meanwhile, tonight we will see: “Cloud and outbreaks of rain will persist in eastern coastal counties tonight, with drier clearer conditions prevailing elsewhere. Lows of 3 to 7 degrees in moderate northerly winds which will continue fresh to strong and gusty near coasts.”

The rest of the week is looking similar, with dry mornings and blustery afternoons. We think it’s finally time to invest in a good raincoat…
