“She is my hero and she is my angel.”

Natasha Core has been remembered as a loving mother and a hero.

The mum tragically died trying to save her son in Swan Lake in Cavan last week. She was laid to rest this weekend.

During her funeral service, the mum’s loved ones reflected on her life.

Her father said Natasha would forever be etched in the hearts of those who loved her.

According to The Irish Times, Kevin Mooney said: “She was a loving mum and she made her family proud,” he said. “When you were down, she put a smile on your face and she made you happy. She’s a hero to Tyler and Leighton and she is an angel. She is my hero and she is my angel.”

Fr Bannon added: “It is the image of her walking with Tyler and Leighton, whether it was going to or coming back from school, whether it was bringing them for a walk or going shopping. They are the images of a loving mother always walking with her children and talking to them as they walked along. It’s an image of care, warmth, and affection.”

Her partner Joseph said he misses her so much already.

“Words can’t describe how much I love and miss you already. My heart is broke; me and the boys love you to bits. I hope you get the best bed in heaven because you deserve it,” he wrote on social media.

Her sons placed a photo of their mum and a phone on the alter.

Natasha’s school, neighbours and locals honoured her with a guard of honour in the church grounds.

The Wind Beneath My Wings played as the mum’s coffin was carried out of the church.

She is survived by her two sons and her partner Joseph.

A GoFundMe was set up to raise funds for Natasha’s funeral and to help support her two sons. Over €9,000 has been raised so far.
