The mother of drowned Limerick teenager Chloe Kinsella has appealed to Irish teenagers to cut back on their drinking.

Outgoing 15-year-old Chloe was found to have toxic levels of alcohol in her system when her body was found in the River Shannon last October and despite warning young people of the dangers of alcohol, mum Shirley said this week that her appeals had “fallen on deaf ears”.

According to The Mirror, the grieving mother said that she would “never be right after this, I can’t believe what happened to her”.

“I’m going through hell and back again and they [young people] are still drinking near my house. You are just wasting your time talking to them,” she said.

“I just hope to God for their own sakes they look after themselves. I wouldn’t like anyone to go through it”.

Chloe’s body was identified by sister Linsey six days after she went missing from her home and an open verdict of drowning was recorded in an subsequent inquest into her death. She would have turned 16 this week.
