Bobbi-Anne McLeod’s body was discovered near a beach in November.
A musician has pleaded guilty to the murder of Bobbi-Anne McLeod.
The 18-year-old went missing on 20 November 2021 and was last seen at a bus stop near her home in Plymouth.
She had been due to travel into town and meet her friends, but she never arrived. Her disappearance sparked a desperate three-day search led by her heartbroken boyfriend and mother.
Once her mobile phone was found, searchers knew something was very wrong. Her body was then discovered dumped in a wooded area near a beach on 23 November.
Musician Cody Ackland appeared at Plymouth Crown Court on Tuesday morning, pleading guilty to a single count of murder.
He spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth, and admit to murdering the teenager on a date between 19 and 23 November, Sky News reports.
He is due to return to court for sentencing on 19 May. Judge Robert Linford warned him he would receive a statutory sentence of life imprisonment, adding: “The only issue will be the minimum term.”
Close family members of the teenager – including her mother, father and brother – were present in the courtroom for Tuesdays’s hearing. Several of her friends also appeared via video-link from an adjacent courtroom.
Ackland was well-known in the area for being the lead guitarist in a local indie band called Rakuda.
