Have we ever seen Ireland so cold?

A new weather warning has just been issued.

Met Éireann has released a nationwide weather warning for freezing temperatures.

The weather forecaster revealed that temps could fall to -5 degrees Celsius across Ireland tonight.

“Minimum of minus 3 or minus 4 expected widely tonight, perhaps locally falling to minus 5 Celsius,” the met.ie website reads.

Earlier today, Met Éireann reported that we’re in for a mainly dry day, with a few showers (of course), but it will be tonight and this evening that will see the worst of it.

According to met.ie: “Today will be largely dry with just an isolated shower this morning. The afternoon will brighten up with sunny spells developing. Highest temperatures 3 to 6 degrees in moderate to fresh northeast winds.

“With clear skies and light variable winds temperatures will fall widely to minus 3 or minus 4 degrees tonight, locally to minus 5. There’ll be a widespread severe frost.”

Better wrap yourself up tonight!
