Nóra Quoirin’s parents ‘heartbroken’ by death of daughter in Malaysia

"We will always love our Nóra."

Nóra Quoirin's family have said they are "heartbroken" by the loss of their child. The 15-year-old's parents, Meabh and Sebastian, positively identified the remains discovered in the Malaysian rainforest yesterday. Nóra had been missing for 10 days. In a statement issued through the Lucie Blackman Trust, her family said that their hearts were broken by Nóra's passing. "Nóra is at the heart of our family," they said. "She is the truest, most precious girl and we love her infinitely. The cruelty of her being taken away is unbearable. Our hearts are broken. "We will always love our Nóra." Meabh and Sebastian also thanked the hundreds of people who assisted in the search operation to find Nóra, and the thousands around the world who loaned their support over the past few days. "We thank the local people here and those far and wide for their prayers and support at this time," they said. "Nóra has brought people together, especially from France, Ireland, Britain and Malaysia, united in their love and support for her and her family. "She has truly touched the whole world. To all our friends and family at home, we can’t thank you enough for all your love."  Nóra's body was discovered by a volunteer yesterday near a stream approximately 2km from where she was last seen. The teenager, who had learning difficulties, disappeared from her resort near Seremban, about an hour south of Kuala Lumpur, 10 days ago. Her parents, who are Irish and French, discovered that she was not in her room and that the window of her hotel room had been left open. More than 350 people aided in the search for Nóra. A postmortem is due to take place later today.
