A one-armed cyclist was fined for riding his bike, despite only having one hand.
Bogdan Ionescu was penalised with a €25 fine after he only had one handbrake on the left side of his bike, with no brake pull on the right.
Stopped by police while cycling in Cologne, Germany, Ionescu was told he was in violation of road safety laws.
Ionesco told the Kölner Stadtanzeiger newspaper how he had legally modified his bike so that could control the right brake on his bike with his foot.
After the story was picked up by local media, the fine was revoked and Ionescu received an apology.
Delighted with the outcome, he said:
“It’s great news, I’m really happy. It’s good that this is how it ends, it’s unbelievably good.’
