Over 100 puppies were taken into custody by animal welfare officers today at Dublin Port.
The puppies, believed to range in age from five to eight weeks, were being shipped illegally to the UK without the required documentation and have been taken into care by the DSPCA.
According to the charity's website, the animals include a number of breeds and an investigation is currently underway into the circumstances surrounding the find.
This is the first seizure under the Animal Health and Welfare Act, which was enacted last year.
