Pregnant woman and unborn baby die after being hit by car in UK

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital, but medics were unable to save her.

A pregnant woman and her unborn baby have died after being hit by a car in Northampton in the UK.

The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, and police officers are appealing to the public for witnesses.

The woman was 39 years old and six months pregnant. She was struck by a black Nissan Pathfinder while she was walking.

A man in his thirties is currently being held in custody on suspicion of dangerous driving.

Paramedics arrived on the scene, after the woman was hit. She was taken to University Hospital Coventry, but healthcare workers were unable to save her.

In a statement, the Northants Police appealed to anybody who may have witnessed the fatal collision.

They wrote: “Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to get in touch , and want to hear from anyone who may have relevant dash-cam footage taken prior to, during, or after the collision.

“Anyone with information is asked to call the Drivewatch Hotline on 0800 174615, regarding incident 283 of May 29, 2021.”
