Amid reports that an Army bomb disposal squad has been called to Old Trafford for the detonation of 'controlled explosion', the Premier League has confirmed that the threat is indeed legitimate.
The organisation claims the decision to evacuate Old Trafford today was made because the "safety of supporters" is of "foremost" importance.
The statement simply states that "the decision to abandon the Manchester United versus Bournemouth match after the police advised [the Premier League] of the necessity to deal with a suspect package"
The statement confirms the fixture will be back on as soon as possible.
