Secondary school teachers have announced that they will go ahead with plans for strike action in the coming weeks.
Teachers have been protesting about the planned proposals to make changes to the Junior Certificate Examination and have announced today that they will stage a one-day strike on Tuesday, December 2nd as a result.
It has also been reported that this will be followed up by a second day of strike action in January – but this date has not yet been confirmed.
Talks broke down between the Department of Education and the teacher’s union this week.
Teachers are reported to be unhappy with the proposed changes to the Junior Certificate which could see teachers marking their own students’ work.
