The affected products include semi-dried cherry tomatoes and a number of items containing shredded carrots and cabbage.
A number of food products from Dunnes Stores have been recalled by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland due to the possible presence of listeria or the pesticide chlorpyrifos.
The first warning concerns batches of Dunnes Store Semi Dried Cherry Tomatoes. They are being recalled as they may contain chlorpyrifos, which, if consumed over a long period of time, may lead to health problems.
The affected batches are form Belgium and their use-by dates are April 21, 2022; May 6, 2022; and May 20, 2022.
The FSAI warning reads: “Batches of Dunnes Stores Semi Dried Cherry Tomatoes are being recalled due to the presence of the pesticide chlorpyrifos which is no longer approved for food use in the EU.
“Although the consumption of the implicated batches of Dunnes Stores Semi Dried Cherry Tomatoes is unlikely to pose an immediate risk to health, continuous consumption of chlorpyrifos over a long period of time may pose a potential risk to health.
“Therefore, exposure to this substance needs to be minimised. Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in stores supplied with the implicated batches.”
The other warning concerns food products containing shredded carrot or cabbages. They have been recalled as they may contain Listeria monocytogenes, which is a bacteria that may cause flu-like symptoms, gastrointestinal issues and possibly more severe symptoms.
The affected products are Butlers Coleslaw, Egg Mayonnaise and Lite Coleslaw.
The warning reads: “This recall is taking place following a voluntary withdrawal of some shredded cabbages and carrots by Milnes Foods Ltd. due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes in products made with the shredded cabbages and carrots.”
The batches are: Butlers Coleslaw – pack size 250g – use by dates: 13, 14, and 15 March 2022, Butlers Lite Coleslaw – pack size 250g – use by dates: 13, 14, and 15 March 2022 and Butlers Egg Mayonaise – pack size 350g – use by dates: 12, 13 and 14 March 2022
