A new update to the popular Grand Theft Auto franchise has sparked major controversy for allowing users to experience sex with prostitutes from a first person perspective.
The series, released by Rockstar, has frequently been hit by criticism but GTA 5 has unprecedented levels of sex and violence in what has been deemed by magazine Esquire as a “deliberately provocative move”.
The game’s content has provoked a backlash on Twitter, with trailers on YouTube showing a player having sex with a prostitute before running her over in his car.
This is just upsetting on every level. This is the best that can be done for entertainment ? #pathetic http://t.co/cadniCgrXa

However, Animation Director Rob Nelson defended the game telling IGN that the idea is to provide a “very intense, in-your-face experience… literally”.
“Obviously, we felt like one of the most compelling things you could do to make an experience people have had before feel different was the new first-person mode,” he said.
“This new mode gives players the chance to explore the world of Los Santos and Blaine County directly through the eyes of their character, revealing all the world’s glorious details in an entirely new way.”
