So, it looks like Dublin is getting more 30km/h speed zones

Olivia Hayes

It has been just over a year since 30km/h zones were introduced into the capital.

And now it seems more locations in Dublin will be implementing the move.

Dublin City Council’s Transport Committee has revealed that they are making plans for the lower speed zone to more than 30 new areas.

Dublin City Council sais last year that the expansion of the 30km/hr speed limit zones will generally not affect the arterial roads in and out of the city but rather the residential areas of the city.

There will be 19 zones on the northside of the city, including Coolock, Artane, Killester, Clontarf, Cabra, North Wall, and Glasnevin, Finglas and Drumcondra.

And there will be 12 on the southside, including Inchicore and Kilmainham, Donnybrook, Harold’s Cross, Rathmines, Portobello, Ranelagh and Ballsbridge.

There are also proposals going forward for new speed limits to be introduced around schools, however these will not be full time.

According to Dublin Live, a meeting of the Transportation Committee will take place on Thursday to discuss the matter. If it is voted on, another full meeting will take place with the council for public consultation.
