Over 1.2 million social welfare customers will be receiving the Christmas bonus this week.
The partially restored bonus will see 25% being paid to all long-term recipients including carers, lone parents, pensioners and people with disabilities.
The bonus was restored by the government in Budget 2015 after it had been abolished in 2009.
Payments will start from this week, with Disability Allowance recipients to be paid on Wednesday, 3rd December, Carer’s Allowance on Thursday 4th December, State Pension and Widow/er’s on Friday, 5th December. Other payments will be paid in the days following.
