A 10-month-old baby has survived despite being trapped under the body of her dead father for up to three days. Betty Jean Fields was found beneath her father Jason (43) who is believed to have died from a sudden cardiac arrest. He was found dead on his bed with the little baby underneath him. Investigators believe that Mr. Fields could have been dead for three days at the family home in the town of Pleasant Hill in Louisiana. Neighbours discovered the father and daughter after Betty’s brother, believed to be about five years of age, ran to a neighbour’s house to tell them his father was dead according to local news channel, KSLA News 12. The 10-month-old, who was airlifted to University Health Centre, suffered from a dark indentation on the right side of her forehead as a result of having been trapped between her father’s body and the headboard. She also suffered from dehydration and skin blisters. “The baby was dehydrated,” said Parish Deputy Coroner, Ron Rivers. “It was able to breath, expand its chest up and down…We’re very blessed that the baby didn’t succumb.” Little Betty is now believed to be recovering well. Her mother, who was in prison at the time, has been granted early release to care for the two children.
