“The prom was about my boy and Hannah. He managed to make the evening for 10 minutes through wonderful courage and determination.
“Jak and Hannah are exceptionally close and I think it is absolutely magical that the school brought the prom forward, what they have done this for both of them.”
Jak was diagnosed with terminal T-Cell Lymphoma in early August, but learned early last week that the cancer had spread and was incurable.
Instead of wallowing, the courageous teen has instead raised more than £30,000 for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research in less than a week.
He hopes the money will help set up Team Jak – a resource to offer additional support for other teens battling cancer.
Jak broke the news of his terminal diagnosis on his Facebook page – with the post since going viral:
“My very experienced Doctors and Professors have looked at the PET scan from today and the disease has spread into all my bones and organs. They have decided not to go any further with any more treatment.
“I am so sorry to give everyone this horrible news but there’s no other way to put it. I would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and everyone who has helped me over the past 6 months, they have tried their best for me.”
According to Metro UK, Hibs fans yesterday paid tribute to Jak with a standing applause in the stand on 15 minutes.
His Facebook wall has since gone viral with more than 23,000 supporters internationally sharing his status and pledging support to his trust.
